Part 1 or 5 in a series.
My dad was the King of Con.
This provides a little context for the reasons I fear being conned by others.
Part II- "Land of Hidden Agendas"
Part III- "Knowledge=Armor?"
Part IV-"Virtual Betrayals"
Part V-"The Better Angels of the Bulletin Boards"
This series addresses my fears of being conned and how it manifests as a desire to know as much as I can to protect myself against my own innocense and trust in others. When I experience betrayal, I lose trust in my own instincts, so I steel myself up with as much information as possible and constantly seek to understand the motivations of others.
All the music is from the soundtrack to the movie "I Am Sam" by John Powell

The contrast between trustful and fearful travelers at a guest house in Trat, Thailand that caters to backpackers on a budget. As we walked down the hallway to our room, we couldn’t help but notice that our neighbors were two sexy, young women who napped in nothing more than their underwear, with their door wide open and their belongings strewn about the floor. Weren’t they worried about their money and passports being stolen? Their bare legs and open trust, in contrast to our padlocked room, as well as their beauty, in contrast to the griminess of the guesthouse, captured our attention. www.earthwormenvy.com
