The Waitresses were an experimental New Wave band in the early 1980s from Kent, Ohio,[1] United States. The group was led by Chris Butler, although lead vocals were performed by Patty Donahue. "Patty" Donahue (March 29, 1956— December 9, 1996) was the lead singer of the 1980s New Wave rock group The Waitresses (sometimes credited as Patty Darling). A heavy smoker, Donahue died of lung cancer at the age of 40 after battling it for almost a year. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland has a leather jacket Patty wore during some performances.
